Scott Hickey, MD
Dr. Scott Hickey is a seasoned emergency medicine physician and executive leader with a track record of translating clinical expertise into organizational impact, physician advocacy, and operational innovation. Over more than two decades, Dr. Hickey has held leadership roles in emergency department operations, physician group management, and medical society advocacy, positioning him uniquely at the intersection of medicine, business, and policy.
As a executive leader in emergency medicine, Dr. Hickey has built and led high-performing physician groups, recruited and developed residency-trained emergency physicians, structured advanced clinical teams, and elevated care standards, operational efficiency, and physician satisfaction. He has also held leadership roles with advocacy groups, including serving as president of the Virginia College of Emergency Physicians, where he helped shape legislative strategy, expand physician leadership development, and advance statewide initiatives on access to care, psychiatric boarding, workforce issues, and scope-of-practice protections.
Dr. Hickey earned his his medical degree and completed his residency at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine. He is board-certified in emergency medicine. Outside of his professional life, he is a husband and father to four children, and remains passionate about mentoring the next generation of clinicians and advancing the field of emergency care.
